No. VCT (Vinyl Composition Tile) is a homogeneous tile of vinyl, limestone, plasticizer, and pigment. It needs regular stripping and waxing. LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) is multi-layer with a printed wear layer and pre-finished top coat that does not need waxing. VCT is cheaper per square foot but has higher long-term maintenance.

Standard maintenance is 4 to 5 finish coats out of the gate, then a strip and re-wax every 12 to 24 months depending on traffic. High-traffic schools and hospitals are usually annual. Low-traffic offices can stretch to 24 months.
